Music Monday: “How Loved You Are” by Josh Wilson
By: Debbie Waltz
I know this post is way overdue. Since my cruise, I’ve been eager to share stories about my time on the Sky Princess during this summer’s Mediterranean voyage on my blog. Instead, I’ve been managing my own health problems, which have made me feel unwell and drained. Some of which I detailed in my guest post as part of Patti Shene blog – Witnessing Through Weakness.
Despite everything, I was still able to attend my niece’s wedding and our annual family reunion in Ohio.
With things having calmed down a bit, I’ve started consulting doctors about my symptoms. After two rounds of antibiotics, which we and our doctors believed were treating a UTI, little improvement has been seen. In addition to that, my parents have been providing most of my care because we’re experiencing agency issues.
That has left us all feeling a little defeated
There are moments like these that make us want to give up. But we can’t. Not just because that would be the easy way out, but because our lives aren’t ours to live, but God’s. The King James version says it best for my current season: “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
Throughout this whole experience, I’ve been reminded that I’m not alone in my situation. Jesus is my friend, fighting for me and with me. As Deuteronomy 31:8 reminds us, “The LORD himself goes before you and will be you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
So if you’re going through something hard today. Don’t give up. Remind yourself of who you are in Christ. That’s one thing that will never change.
Josh Wilson’s song “How Loved You Are” urges us to remember God’s sacrifice on the cross, demonstrating how special we are to Him. It reminds us that we were never meant to fight these battles alone. Instead, we fight them alongside the Lord.
