Music Monday: “Here Again” by Elevation Worship
by: Debbie Waltz
This week, I was privileged to attend my second annual disability conference hosted by Even If. I have been involved in this organization for over a year. This ministry provides support and community for Christian women living with chronic illnesses or physical disabilities. In addition to fostering a closer relationship with God, the weekly Bible study group highlights the significance of embracing diversity and fostering a sense of belonging for individuals with disabilities within our modern social landscape. This year’s conference theme was Disabled Women on A Mission. The core message revolved around discovering personal identity and purpose within one’s faith, emphasizing the application of talents to serve God’s kingdom and achieve one’s divinely intended purpose.
Throughout the three years of Jesus’ ministry, he directly challenged the religious leaders’ teachings to the people. Throughout his sermons and daily interactions, he focused on physically and spiritually healing people’s hearts rather than following the law. Jesus reminded people about the value of developing a relationship with the Lord rather than putting their trust in doing things that won’t last or have any eternal value.
While today’s society places a high value on one’s strength and abilities, God does not. He prioritizes the heart rather than the outward appearance. (1 Samuel 16:7). He chooses to use people in their weakness. Because it’s in our human weakness, God’s character and strength are all on full display. Why? 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
The conference helped me refocus my priorities, reminding me to see my disability as a mirror reflecting God’s love for the people around me. It also prompted me to reevaluate my priorities, shifting from productivity to relationship. Though he appreciates my efforts in furthering this kingdom, he just wants to meet with me!
Just as he wants to meet with you!
So do yourself a favor and take a moment to sit in his presence. I guarantee you you will not regret it..
Bottom line: Jesus loves you just as much as he loves me. He can use us all if we let him. Elevation Worship’s song reminds us that he wants a relationship with us. He wants to sit with us in the middle of whatever situation we are going through and walk through it with us.
