Music Monday: “God Is In This Story ” by Big Daddy Weave and Katy Nicole
by: Debbie Waltz
On Tuesday, one of my disabled short stories will be out there for all the world to see; I know it’s just one story, but people don’t realize how many submissions it takes to get something printed. There’s probably some well-documented ratio out there; if someone finds it, please let me know. I know I would be very interested to know the statistics on this.
It’s a vulnerable spot to be in, knowing that your words are written for all to see and judge accordingly. But I sincerely hope that my words (as well as those from fellow writers) encourage special needs parents out there. I know if you asked my parents when I was born, they would probably say they could’ve used this book after they did not know what CP was and what the future held for their daughter.
This anthology encourages audiences to look beyond their children’s differences and see what is possible; it builds a sense of community, proving that parents aren’t alone in their struggle to provide the best education and social experiences for their children.
As Christians, we know God’s propensity to use the difficult times in our lives to shape us and mold us to be more like Jesus; this doesn’t mean it’s always easy, or we understand it. Anyway, this got me thinking about Big Daddy Weave and Katy Nicole’s new song, “God Is In This Story.”This song reminds us how His Power shows in our weakest moments- where we are forced to rely on God rather than our own strength. Remember what the Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 12:9:
“But he said to me, ‘My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s name rest on me.”
I look forward to this book! I worked with the disabled for over 35 years. I will be able to relate to these stories’ parents and the like share in the book.
