It’s hard to believe that last week marked the end of our Now, Not Yet Bible study. Over the past five weeks, we’ve delved deep into God’s timeless faithfulness, witnessing His steadfast love across generations. This unwavering loyalty to His people remains constant, even in the face of their inclination to succumb to sinful behavior. However, this week was different as we delved into God’s sanctifying power, diving deep into the transformation process to mold us into His likeness.

Sanctification doesn’t happen overnight, though. As we await Christ’s arrival, we find ourselves in a constant battle, torn between our sinful inclinations and our deep-seated desire to serve and obey God faithfully. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Ultimately, these battles serve as a pathway toward deepening our faith and spiritual growth. They make us pause and reflect on our priorities, urging us to change. Will we rely solely on our strength or surrender even more to God’s promises? The Apostle Paul urges the Philippians to ponder the question and find the answer within themselves. In verse 12, Paul begins with this challenge: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.”

Paul’s reminder emphasizes we are not alone in this endeavor. In verse 13, he writes: “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Today’s song “Whisper and The Wind” captures the challenge Christians face in discerning God’s still small voice amidst the clamor of the world. Despite God’s love for us, he does not compete for our attention. On a daily basis, we are confronted with the choice of determining whom we will listen to.
