Music Monday: “Never” by Tasha Layton

Music Monday: “Never” by Tasha Layton

For those of you who are my friends on Facebook and follow my blog, thank you for all your birthday wishes. As I approached my 44th birthday, I looked back on the year with Thanksgiving – grateful for all the opportunities where God has allowed me to connect personally and professionally. These relationships have deepened my faith and allowed me to see my writing career differently. Though I am still waiting, I am using this time to continue my spiritual growth and draw close to the Lord during this time. I know what my God is capable of and looking forward to the day my book is completed. Until then, I am learning to be content in the waiting.

This is not as simple as it sounds.

Especially in the comparison-driven society we live in today.

Too often we are judged by the amount of money we earn rather than our character. As Christians, we know the truth. Our value is based on nothing we’ve done. It’s based on what God has done for us and through us. We tend to forget our intrinsic value is in one simple fact- that God created us. More importantly than that, we are created in His image. Psalms 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are written wonderful, I know that full well.” David asserts his days are numbered, like ours, and we are chosen for a unique purpose. Verse 16 reminds us, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Paul agrees with this sentiment, saying in Ephesians 1:4-5: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will –..”Verses 11 and 12 continue reminding us that we were made for such a time as this. He says, “In him we were also chosen having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of this will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory”

I chose Tasha Layton’s song, “Never” because her songs don’t shy away from the difficulties of this world. For those that know her story, she sings about her feelings of inadequacy but allows God to use her anyway.
May we always choose to do the same!
