As summer winds down, I want to highlight some of my favorite TV events this summer. Of course, there’s the Olympics. However, I felt conflicted by some things that went on during the opening ceremonies. You probably remember what I’m talking about if you’ve read the news. If you want to hear my take on the opening ceremonies, read more here: Reflections on Opening Ceremonies. Despite being hurt by the ceremonies, I did not want them to detract from the joy I felt watching my favorite gymnastics competitions and cheering on the athletes.

Like Musa Motha (from a previous season of AGT), the breakdancer’s journey to overcome cancer at the age of 13 moved judges. Though Samuka displayed smooth moves on the floor, his tenacity to pursue his passion, despite losing a limb truly won them over. They even suggested he could have been a contender in the breakdancing category opening at the Olympics this year.Samuka original audition for AGT

Sadly, despite his inspirational and moving performance with the tagline “NO LIMITS. NO EXCUSES, ” he did not make it through the quarterfinals. Some may question his getting pity votes simply because of his disability, but I doubt that. His last performance can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5TR5hnQStk
