Music Monday: “Stand For You” by Jonny Diaz

Music Monday and “Stand For You” by Jonny Diaz

Since the inception of this blog, I have consistently strived to offer my readers information related to disabilities without incorporating a political agenda or emphasizing my personal opinions. Most often, I have effectively provided diverse viewpoints from various angles, enabling you to make an informed decision. Occasionally, however, I feel a sense of responsibility to communicate the message that God has placed in my heart. Why? I am compelled to speak out because I believe that my silence could have long-lasting effects on future generations.

That said, I firmly believe that Americans should seize every chance they get to vote. By doing this, we can ensure that we hear our voices in implementing laws and selecting representatives who speak on our behalf. Some individuals who opt not to vote may argue that their single vote carries little weight in influencing the outcome. While some may see it as a valid perspective, I respectfully disagree and argue that not voting could imply indifference. This behavior not only shows disrespect for the foundation on which our society was established but also fails to fully appreciate those who sacrificed for our freedom.

I have previously mentioned that we act as ambassadors of Christ to the people in our lives. (2 Corinthians 5:20). But with that privilege comes great responsibility as well. In Acts 20, Paul delivers a significant sermon that serves as a crucial moment in the faith of these believers, urging them to live out their faith in every aspect of their daily lives, just as he did. 1 Timothy 3:1-2  says: “Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to the wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach..”

You’re probably saying to yourself, “Debbie, I thought that only applied to people working within the church.” While this is technically true, this doesn’t mean we can’t make a difference in our community; in fact, we’re supposed to. You see, everyone has their own realm of influence; now that isn’t to say Jesus expects us to be perfect. Romans 3: 10 says “No one is righteous–not even one. No one is truly wise; No one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” But the work on the cross covers us.

As I’ve shared many times on this blog, it’s important to share what we believe. After all, we may be the only “church” influence a person has. This can be done through our words as well as our deeds

Jonny Diaz’s “Stand For You.” reminds us of this responsibility, not only a civic one to vote and share our opinions shaping the world we live in. But our responsibility to God. We live in a broken world and it’s our privilege and responsibility to share the hope we have in Christ

1 Peter 315 says, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
