Welcome Back~
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be disabled? A recent news clip featured an organization trying to shed light on the subject. In celebration of Barrier Awareness Day, Voices For Independence went to a mall providing wheelchairs and other disabled accessories for people to try out.
See the results.
As part of my Orientation and Mobility training, and to learn to use my white cane, my instructor put blinder glasses on me, and had me navigate a room totally blind with just my white cane…
A few weeks later we then did a trip around the block blind, and at the mall blind, up and down steps BLIND, with only the white cane to help me.
Steps and blind people don’t mix, if you want to talk about feeling helpless, thats it!
