Music Monday: “Breathe on It” by Tauren Wells
By Debbie Waltz
Wishing you a happy Fourth of July weekend!
As America approaches its 250th anniversary, I wanted to express my gratitude for living in such a beautiful nation. I am thankful for the freedom to express my faith in Jesus Christ and for access to resources and technology that help support my independence. I mention this in observance of Disability Pride Month because I recognize that many people in other nations do not have the same opportunities that are available here.
If you’ve been following my updates recently, you know the past month has been quite busy. I attended a book signing at a Christian bookstore in my neighborhood. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful, and I could connect with many people. We had meaningful conversations about disability, faith, and my writing journey.
Last week, I also had the privilege of sharing my testimony at my church. I spoke about how God has worked in my life and how I use my blog to share the hope of Christ while living with a disability and having limited use of my arms and legs. It was a blessing to encourage others by showing that God can work through our weaknesses to bring Him glory.
Despite all the unique opportunities God has placed before me, I’ve grown weary of promoting the book. I often have to remind myself that I’m not promoting myself; I’m simply an instrument being used for God’s glory. The book isn’t about me—it’s about hope, perseverance, faith, and the ways God meets us in life’s hardest moments. Beyond that, I hope it gives disabled people a voice in the story and creates a greater platform for understanding with the general public. I know sharing it is part of the journey.
Then God gently reminds me that I was never called to promote myself. I was called to be faithful. As Christians, we do have a responsibility to share God’s love with those around us. No out of duty but from a grateful heart. Corinthians 5:20 reminds us, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making an appeal through us.”
As a lifelong Christian, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing we must carry the burden of all the work ourselves. However, we must remember the power we possess through Jesus Christ. After all, God’s Word is alive and active. Look at what Isaiah 55 :11 says, “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
That’s what I’ve been praying for a lot lately. I pray that God inspires a renewed enthusiasm for marketing, so that my message can touch more lives. Not just more people. But the right people. The audience most in need of my message.
To those who are also feeling weary on their trip, This one’s for you. You are not alone; God continues to work.
“Breathe On It” by Tauren Wells serves as a reminder of God’s transformative power. This applies not only to our spiritual lives but also to our everyday existence. He wishes to become a part of our lives. We need only ask him
