Music Monday: “Peace” by Bethel Music (featuring We The Kingdom)

By: Debbie Waltz

Over the last few weeks, personal issues have consumed my heart and mind. When life feels overwhelming, I have to remind myself who is really in control. It isn’t me—it’s God. As Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

It’s so easy to forget that and get caught up in the things of this world. That’s why I thought it was so important to him include “Peace” by Bethel Music and We The Kingdom. It reminds me that God’s peace is different from the peace the world offers. As Christians, peace doesn’t mean our lives are free from hardship. It means we can rest in the confidence that God is with us and remains in control, even when our circumstances are uncertain. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Jesus reminds us of this truth in John 16:33: He tells us that we will have trouble in this world, but we can take heart because He has overcome the world. That doesn’t erase the challenges we face, but it changes how we face them. Because Christ has already won the victory, we don’t have to let fear or worry have the final word. Philippians 4:6–7 also encourages us not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, to present our requests to God. Then the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

This song has been a timely reminder to release what I cannot control and trust the One who holds it all together. Matthew 11:28–30 reminds us to come to Jesus when we are weary and burdened, and He will give us rest. My prayer is that, whatever you may be facing today, you’ll experience the peace that only Jesus can give.
