Music Monday: “Let It Be A Hallelujah” by Lauren Daigle

By: Debbie Waltz

During the last several months, my church has undertaken an in-depth, verse-by-verse examination of the biblical book of Hebrews. This book chapter encourages those in the early Christian church to stand firm in their faith, despite what persecution they may encounter. Despite the author’s anonymity, the text offers several explanations, highlighting Jesus’s superiority over the many Jewish traditions that many people were considering returning to.

As we’ve studied, we’ve found that three qualities set apart a Christian life. They include:

  1. A life that PLEASES God
  2. A life that PURSUES God
  3. A life that PRAISES God

During our discussion last week, we talked about how seeking God involves commitment and profound comprehension, rather than a mere belief. This involves more than just accepting God as your Lord and Savior; it also includes seeing Him as your Heavenly Father. Parents desire to give their children nice gifts, just like God does, but God is different from humans because He is perfect and hasn’t sinned. (Matthew 7:11)

A true Christian fosters a relationship with God by pursuing Him daily, which includes acknowledging God’s impact and striving to become more like Christ. This involves being in The Word daily. Although the Bible tells the story of our lives, it also reveals a great deal about God and His Character. Even though each book reveals a different “side” of God, the ultimate goal is to build a full picture of God’s nature and our role in His plan to save all people.

The book of Proverbs by Solomon provides practical wisdom for living a life devoted to God. During my women’s Bible study, I was reminded that our words and actions can either uplift or diminish others. As I’ve said, we are God’s emissaries, spreading the Truth of the Gospel to a world that is broken and hurting. Even if they can’t put their finger on it, the people around you sense a change in you. Eventually, this may give you the opportunity to share the reason for your hope (1 Peter 3: 15)

When I first listened to Diagle’s “Let It Be A Hallelujah,” it evoked the hymn “Take My Life and Let It Be” in my mind. Both songs encourage Christians to use their abilities and talents to glorify God. It also serves as a reminder of the significance of depending on the truth of God’s promises, no matter what we face.
