“Fun” Friday:One-Legged Parkour Athlete Ruben Roldan Simon Cowell Golden Buzzer On AGT

Author’s Note: I’m aware that many readers probably arrived at this blog expecting my “Portrait of the Faithful” series. For the next two weeks, I’ve opted to switch from this series to some more lighthearted content. However, I do plan on resuming it after a short hiatus. If there is any biblical figure you’d like to feature, please email me.

As the 21st season of America’s Got Talent kicks off on NBC, I am always excited to see the wide array of acts that audition. This year is no different. In the initial weeks of auditions, I’ve witnessed a wide array of performances, including singing, dancing, and magic. This show truly offered something for every audience member. This year, some dance performances incorporated technology, with robots trained to mimic and dance alongside the performers. Some performers incorporated their animal companions into their dance routines.

However, today, I want to discuss Ruben Roldan and his incredible Parkour performance. Following a brief chat with the judges, Roldan surprised them by venturing beyond the stage. Next, the audience witnesses him outside as he takes off his leg, revealing his status as an amputee. He readily hops from stair to stair, then proceeds to another staircase, where he continues to jump around with ease. From that point, he locates a place to swing and land effortlessly. He then takes a moment to drink water before quickly moving through a backstage entrance into the auditorium, where he faces additional challenges set up for him.

Honestly, my writing doesn’t do his routine justice; you truly have to see it for yourself. I’ve included the link here: Roldan, a 23-year-old from Spain, had an accident as a child on a tractor that resulted in an amputation. However, he hasn’t allowed this to stop him from accomplishing his dreams: youtube.com/watch?v=5HSi2nG1oX0&t=5s
