The Summer of Mended Hearts

Seventeen-year-old Lisa Marie is worn down from trying to hold her grieving, fractured family together after the death of her brother from leukemia. Hoping for a break and a chance to refocus, she spends the summer with her aunt on the condition that she keeps up with her studies. But instead of the peaceful escape she imagined, Lisa finds complicated emotions, grief over her brother’s death, frustration with her parents, shock at her aunt moving on so quickly, and new confusion about her feelings for her best friend, Scott.
